Job Description

As an HSE Specialist (m/f/d) you focus on two primary areas:

  • Understanding risks = Risk assessments (30%)
  • Implementation of control level = Site operational and HSE department activities (70%)

1 - Understanding risks

  • Leads process risk assessments and workplace risk assessments
  • Manages and develops risk assessment strategy in accordance with legal and Syngenta requirements

2 - Site and HSE department operational activities

  • Supports production with safety expertise on site
  • Manages incident reporting process and supports investigations, shared learnings and internal communication
  • Supports the organization for operational safety compliance with all Swiss Legislative and Syngenta Internal regulations (occupational, process, and environmental safety).
  • Provides safety related trainings (HSE prevention and protection)
  • Implements the initiatives required to develop Syngenta HSE strategy at Muttenz
  • Supports development of environmental reporting platform for the site
  • Audit: support site HSE Audits and act as internal auditor
  • Drives and represents Syngenta HSE culture by Leadership and Behaviors

Qualifications

  • Degree in chemistry, chemical engineering or equivalent
  • At least 5 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing environment, in operational role (production, engineering, HSE)
  • Experience with workplace safety specialist (Eignungsverordnung)
  • Strong understanding of Swiss regulatory environment and its application in the process industry.
  • Experience with safety risk assessment and incident investigation in the Process Industries, Knowledge of the methods of risk assessment (workplace risk assessment, HAZOP)
  • Understanding of chemical manufacturing operations incl. standard operational safety procedures (permit to work, mods, incidents investigations…)
  • Ability to use modern IT tools and support their implementation
  • Fluency in English and German
