About the role 

We are looking for an experienced HSE Systems Analyst to support the application of Health, Safety and Environment systems and tools across Rio Tinto’s New Zealand Aluminium Smelter (NZAS), enabling leaders to effectively deliver HSE outcomes. 

This is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic and analytical professional to contribute to the development and implementation of standardised HSE systems at Tiwai Point, Invercargill. 

Reporting to the Superintendent Health, Safety & Security and working in a collaborative and supportive environment within the NZAS HSE team, you will be: 

  • Preparing weekly, monthly and annual HSE reporting 

  • Supporting and building capability of leaders and HSE team members through coaching in Rio Tinto safety systems 

  • Managing HSE Management System document control and intranet uploads of controlled documents 

  • Supporting assurance programs including internal, ISO and integrated maturity assessments 

  • Providing support for data quality control processes and HSE systems/tools 

  • Assisting with purchase requisitions and ad hoc HSE projects 

About you 

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team 

  • Strong stakeholder engagement with well-developed administration skills 

  • Proven experience using Microsoft Office Suite (experience with Power BI, SAP or similar systems advantageous) 

  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the business 

  • Strong organisational and time management skills with a proactive approach 

  • Experience in document control or systems administration (HSE exposure beneficial)

This function plays a critical role in driving compliance, continuous improvement and positive safety outcomes across the operation.
