Job Summary

 

Job Summary Provide HR Generalist support to the Corporate Office. Coordinate activities related to Human Resource services for assigned client group and ensure service and/or operating standards are met internally and externally. Contributes to the design, development and implementation of processes, practices, and methodologies in Human Resources.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll

  • Responsible for semi-monthly payroll submissions; updates the Human Resources Information System (JDE) & payroll input form, reviews/audits changes at semi-monthly meetings and answers Payroll / Employee inquiries
  • Ensures data in JDE is up to date and accurate; audits for discrepancies and updates as required

 

Data/Reports/Audit

  • Provides support to HR manager during the annual compensation process; assists with data quality reviews and any ad hoc requests
  • Compiles, analyzes and prepares standardized or customized reports on a routine or ad hoc basis
  • Monitors the vacation database to ensure accuracy; ensures vacation entitlements are accurate in JDE and Horizon
  • Maintains employee electronic and physical files; ensures all documentation is fully executed in accordance with policy
  • Primary contact for internal audits; prepares documents and information requests, attends audit meetings as HR representative

 

Pension & Benefits

  • Acts as an administrator for the Pension Plan Committee and carries out fiduciary obligations in accordance to the plan documents, as required, by coordinating semi-annual meetings.
  • Completes audits of the pension and retirement savings plan programs, creates pension adjustment reversals as needed, conducts enrollment sessions, and administers new enrollments and changes
  • Administers the Canadian benefits program, including enrollment, claims issues, reporting, auditing, and communicating benefits information to employees.
  • Contributes to pension and benefits policy and program development, implementation and process improvements.
  • Liaise with third-party vendors or providers to schedule, develop, and coordinate employee education sessions and initiatives including but not limited to: annual benefit information sessions and pension information sessions

 

Employee Relations

  • Primary point-of-contact for employees in the Corporate Office; independently handles day to day questions related to benefits, pension, vacation, and leaves.
  • Coordinates onboarding of new hires; schedules and facilitates new hire orientation and ensures new employees are properly set up on payroll and benefits
  • Prepares HR related documents including promotion letters, transfer letters, termination letters and other variations of contract as requested by the HR Manager
  • Coordinates and administers leaves of absences, including but not limited to parental leaves, short-term disability leaves and long-term disability leaves
  • Coordinates off-boarding process and conducts exit interviews as required; analyzes and interprets exit survey results

 

Global Mobility

  • Coordinates and monitors the Canadian immigration and relocation process for employees transferring into KGC
  • Initiates vendor services, including tax, immigration and settling-in services
  • Initiates immigration services for business travellers when required

 

Other

  • Creates and distributes HR related communications to the employee population
  • Researches information to support and improve processes
  • Contributes to the development of human resource policies and practices in Canada
  • Contributes to the design, roll-out, and training of new programs, initiatives, and system-related processes
  • Stays current on best practices and trends related to HR, and incorporates this information into work assignments
  • Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures for continual improvements in efficacy of department and services performed
  • Support special HR-related projects as required

Qualifications and Skills

  • University degree or diploma in Business, Human Resources, or related discipline
  • Additional specialized education of up to 2 years
  • Professional designation in Human Resources (e.g. CHRP) considered an asset
  • Required Qualifications Experience:
  • 3 – 5 years of related work experience or equivalent
  • Previous experience in the mining industry is preferred

 

Required Qualifications Skills:

  • Hands‑on experience entering employee data within Human Resource Information Systems. Experience with Employee Central preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to learn quickly with great attention to detail
  • Excellent organization skills with ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced, multi-task environment with demanding deadlines and/or changing priorities
  • Capable of working effectively independently and/or as part of a team
  • Well-developed problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to work with confidential information and materials
  • Familiarity with local and federal regulations required

Compensation and Total Rewards

 

The base salary range for this role is $80,000 to $95,000 CAD plus a target Short-Term Incentive bonus of 15% target and group benefit coverage. The hiring range reflects our targeted compensation framework for the role. The actual offer will be determined through a comprehensive evaluation of each candidate’s experience, capabilities, and potential impact, along with consideration of internal equity, team structure, and benchmark market data for similar positions.
