Sydney Water is seeking a hands-on Hydrographer Level 1 in Potts Hill, a permanent full-time role (35 hours) within Finance, Commercial and Digital. The job combines fieldwork and data analysis: installing and calibrating hydrometric instruments, collecting fault data, deploying IoT devices, and interpreting results across water networks. You will travel Sydney-wide and balance field and office tasks, with full onboarding and training provided. A current driver's licence and Australian citizenship or permanent residency are essential; a company vehicle is supplied. About the role:
Each day will be different. You will mostly be out in the field assisting with the maintenance and calibration of hydrometric instrumentation, and collating data from our water and wastewater networks.
This role is mainly outdoors and involves driving around the Sydney Metropolitan region performing calibrations and maintenance of instrumentation such as flowmeters, level sensors, IoT Devices and weather stations. You will enjoy a mix of office and field-based work locations – knowledge of water cycle and wastewater systems, telemetry and hydrometric equipment is beneficial – but we will train you in these areas.
