Join CERN as an Industrial Control System Engineer to design, develop and commission large distributed control systems based on Siemens S7-1500 PLCs and the UNICOS framework for CERN’s power installations. You will build Matlab Simulink models for Hardware-In-The-Loop testing, write Python test scripts, contribute to CI/CD and automated testing, and supervise students. Ideal candidates have hands-on Siemens S7-1500 and TIA Portal experience, knowledge of automation technologies, fieldbuses and SCADA, Python, Git/GitLab and CI/CD practices, and HIL familiarity; English is required with a willingness to learn French. Eligibility includes CERN Member or Associate Member State status, up to two years post-graduation experience, and a Bachelor or Master degree; PhDs and prior CERN fellows are not eligible. Apply by 18 June 2026; contract is 24 months with possible extension, starting 1 October 2026, onsite with hybrid work in Geneva.
