Job Purpose

The Specialist I&C Engineer shall provide advanced engineering expertise for Instrumentation and Control systems during FEED, Detailed Engineering, EPC, and PMC phases of ADNOC projects.
The role is primarily engineering-focused with limited involvement in construction support activities. The engineer will be responsible for design review, engineering coordination, technical assurance, vendor management, and compliance with ADNOC standards, international codes, and project specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and review Instrumentation and Control engineering deliverables for oil & gas projects. 
  • Review and approval: 
    • Instrument Index 
    • I/O List 
    • Control philosophies 
    • Cause & Effect diagrams 
    • Instrument datasheets 
    • Hook-up drawings 
    • Cable schedules 
    • Loop drawings 
    • JB schedules 
    • Control system architecture drawings 
  • Ensure compliance with ADNOC standards, IEC, ISA, API, and international engineering practices. 
  • Review FEED and Detailed Engineering deliverables prepared by EPC contractors. 
  • Participate in design development and technical clarification meetings. 
  • Support optimization of control systems, field instrumentation, and automation philosophies. 

Control Systems & Automation

  • Review DCS, ESD, F&G, SCADA, and PLC system engineering documents. 
  • Coordinate with telecom, electrical, process, and mechanical disciplines for interface management. 
  • Review system integration philosophies and control narratives. 
  • Evaluate SIL classification studies, alarm management philosophy, and cybersecurity requirements where applicable. 
  • Review FAT/SAT procedures and vendor technical documentation. 

Vendor & Package Engineering

  • Coordinate with package vendors for instrumentation and control requirements. 
  • Review vendor documents and ensure timely resolution of comments. 
  • Support technical bid evaluations and vendor selection processes. 
  • Ensure package compliance with project specifications and operational requirements. 

PMC & Project Coordination

  • Monitor EPC contractor engineering progress and quality. 
  • Provide technical guidance during engineering execution. 
  • Participate in HAZOP, SIL, constructability, and design review workshops. 
  • Coordinate with ADNOC and PMC teams for engineering approvals and technical alignment. 
  • Support project schedule adherence and engineering milestone achievement. 

Construction & Site Support 

  • Provide engineering clarification and technical support to site teams when required. 
  • Review technical queries, deviations, and site engineering issues. 
  • Support pre-commissioning and commissioning teams during system checks and startup activities if required. 
  • Occasional site visits may be required for technical verification and coordination. 

Minimum Qualifications & Experience Required

  • A bachelor’s degree in relevant engineering or equivalent from an accredited university with a minimum of fifteen (15+) years of relevant experience in the Oil & Gas or Petrochemical industry.
  • Must have at least five (5) years of experience in similar position in mega Oil & Gas or Petrochemical projects.
  • ADNOC & Offshore project experience is preferred
  • PMC experiences are preferrable. 
  • Experience in FEED & EPC Phases is required
