Climeworks offers a six month intern position in Testing Engineering in Zurich with a hybrid onsite setup, starting April 1, 2026. You will contribute to rapid testing and validation of Direct Air Capture ideas, support upgrades across small to medium scale test facilities, assess measurement methods and propose improvements, and validate findings for stakeholders. Requirements: a BSc in Mechanical or Process Engineering or a related field, CAD proficiency with technical drawings, strong foundations in thermodynamics and fluid dynamics, and the ability to work well in teams or independently in English; German is a plus.   • Technology Development: You contribute to the rapid testing, engineering, and validation of innovative technology ideas and concepts to ensure reliable results for Direct Air Capture (DAC). 

  • System Design and Engineering: You support the design, development, and engineering of upgrades across Climeworks' testing portfolio, focusing on small to medium-scale systems. 

  • Test Facility Advancement: You play a key role in improving small to medium-scale test facilities by contributing to their ongoing technological development and refinement. 

  • Measurement Evaluation: You assess the feasibility of different measurement methods based on test results and practical implementation, providing recommendations for improvements or alternatives. 

  • Validation and Reporting: You validate engineered upgrades through careful planning, execution, data analysis, and communicate your findings effectively to relevant stakeholders. 

Requirements

  • Educational Background: You have completed a BSc in Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related field and are currently enrolled or have graduated within the last year. 

  • Technical Proficiency: You have proven experience using CAD for engineering applications and are familiar with technical drawing standards. 

  • Engineering Knowledge: You possess strong foundational knowledge in thermodynamics and fluid dynamics, with a practical understanding of small and medium-scale testing process design. 

  • Problem Solving: You demonstrate adaptability, flexibility, and creativity when facing incomplete or uncertain information. 

  • Work Style and Language Skills: You are reliable, structured, and performance-driven, thriving both in fast-paced, collaborative team environments and when working independently. In addition, you are fluent in English; knowledge of German is a plus. 

  • Availability: You are available for a full-time 6-month internship, ideally beginning on April 1st 2026.

What we offer:

At Climeworks, our six-month internships offer a hybrid work setup, giving you flexibility while ensuring valuable collaboration by working onsite at least three days per week. To maintain fairness, we follow a standardized salary process based on market benchmarks. For our internships based in Switzerland, the compensation is:

  • During BSc & MSc: CHF 2,000 per month

  • After completion of MSc: CHF 2,500 per month
