Job Description

The International Payroll Specialist will be a key resource within an evolving global payroll structure. The role ensures accurate salary processing, full compliance with local and international regulations, and effective collaboration with internal and external partners to guarantee efficient and compliant payroll operations.

This position will primarily focus on EFG locations outside Switzerland and will serve as the main point of contact for payroll‑related matters across these locations. At the same time, the role will also be involved in payroll operations for Switzerland, providing support and backup to the team as needed. This role will provide guidance on payroll topics, including allowances, tax regulations, social security and reporting requirements, supporting the organisation in maintaining high standards of compliance and service quality.

The role also offers the opportunity to contribute to the implementation of a global payroll platform for employees of EFG international locations and to progressively take ownership of multi‑country payroll operations from Switzerland

This is an excellent opportunity for someone eager to work in an international, fast-paced and client-oriented HR team within a global private banking group.

Main responsibilities

  • Manage the global payroll process from Switzerland for selected international locations, ensuring accurate and timely salary payments.
  • Support and act as backup for payroll activities for Switzerland‑based employees.
  • Coordinate with local payroll providers, ensuring compliance with tax, social security and labour regulations in each jurisdiction.
  • Collaborate with HR and Finance to align processes, ensure accurate interfaces and resolve issues.
  • Act as first point of contact for employee payroll queries, providing timely and accurate support and maintaining high data quality across locations.
  • Prepare and review payroll reports (salaries, contributions, tax obligations) and support internal and external audits with required documentation.
  • Drive initiatives to review, streamline and centralise HR/payroll processes globally, performing regular checks on payroll outputs to ensure quality and compliance.

Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience in multi‑country payroll management, ideally within an international or financial services environment.
  • Strong knowledge of international payroll processes and compliance requirements (tax, social security, labour law) across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Experience with payroll platforms and HR systems, with strong attention to data quality and process reliability.
  • Structured, detail‑oriented and highly reliable, with strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a dynamic and demanding environment.
  • Comfortable working in a regulated and international context, with high levels of integrity and discretion in handling confidential data.
  • International mindset and experience working in multicultural environments.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills, with a proactive and positive attitude, energy and intellectual curiosity.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to provide clear explanations to non‑specialist stakeholders.
  • Fluent in English; knowledge of national languages, particularly French and Italian, is a strong asset.

Our Values

  • Accountability: Taking ownership for tasks and challenges, as well as seeking continuous improvement
  • Hands-on: Being proactive to rapidly deliver high-quality results
  • Passionate: Being committed and striving for excellence
  • Solution-driven: Focusing on client outcomes and treating clients fairly with a risk-aware mindset
  • Partnership-oriented: Promoting collaboration and teamwork. Working together with an entrepreneurial spirit.
