The Team
The Investment Solutions and Governance team at Netwealth is responsible for overseeing the research and governance of investment options available on the Netwealth investment menu.
Netwealth’s product suite includes Superannuation and IDPS platforms, Managed Accounts, and Global Specialist Series funds. Members of the Investment Management & Research (IMR) team work closely with the broader Product Department to manage the investments offered to clients on the Superannuation and IDPS investment menus and products issued by Netwealth as responsible entity.
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Investment Analyst (or Manager-level researcher) with a specialisation in alternative strategies and complex investment products. The ideal candidate will have approximately five years of relevant experience (minimum three years).
As an Investment Analyst within the IMR team, you will report to the Head of Investment Research and Governance and play a key role in supporting Netwealth’s investment governance framework.
This role focuses on alternative strategies and complex investment products, including private markets, hedge funds, structured products, and other non-traditional solutions. You will support the selection, due diligence, and ongoing governance of specialist managers and products in these areas.
Key Responsibilities
Support the review, selection, and ongoing monitoring of alternative strategies and complex investment products
Conduct detailed due diligence on external fund managers, including meetings and qualitative assessments in adherence to the Investment Governance Framework/s
Prepare high-quality research, investment papers, and recommendations for Investment Committees
Ongoing governance of the investment menu, including investment option addition, monitoring, and removals
Support Investment Committee reporting and broader IMR work plan initiatives
About You
You are an intellectually curious investment professional with a strong interest in alternative strategies and complex product structures. You may come from a research team within a research house, investment consulting firm, dealer group, wealth management firm, or platform environment.
You enjoy analysing how products are constructed, understanding where risks lie, and assessing performance across different market conditions. You are comfortable engaging with fund managers and forming independent views.
You also bring strong communication skills and can translate complex concepts into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders.
Your Experience
Tertiary qualification in finance, commerce, or a related discipline; CFA or equivalent is highly regarded
Experience researching or analysing alternative investments (e.g. private markets, hedge funds, structured products)
Understanding of a Responsible Entity for a registered Managed Investment Schemes and Super Trustee regulations (SPS530)
Strong understanding of investment structures, liquidity profiles, and risk-return characteristics
Experience conducting fund manager due diligence and preparing investment recommendations
Familiarity with research tools and data platforms (e.g. Morningstar)
Understanding of platform products and how advisers and clients use them is beneficial
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Clear and confident written and verbal communication skills
