Pacific National seeks an IT Project Manager and Scrum Master for a 12‑month max‑term contract to drive the RailCube program in Australia’s rail network from North Sydney onsite three days a week. This hands‑on role blends technology, operations and vendor delivery to lead delivery, manage a lean team, champion Agile outcomes, run Steering Committee forums, and oversee testing, integrations and release management toward a July go‑live. Requirements: 10+ years in complex IT programs, rail or transport exposure, proven rostering or time and attendance experience, and strong stakeholder engagement. To apply, tailor your resume to show delivery leadership, go‑live planning and risk management, and readiness for a safety‑critical environment; highlight RailCube or similar rostering platforms.

IT Project Manager/Scrum Master - 12 Month Max Term Contract

Drive a flagship transformation across Australia’s largest private rail freight network

At Pacific National, we deliver what matters – for our people, our customers, and the communities we serve. As a critical player in Australia’s supply chain, we’re investing in the future of rail operations and are seeking an exceptional RailCube Project Manager to lead a high-profile, in-flight transformation.

The Opportunity

This is a 12-month max term contract stepping into an established enterprise program, with 6–9 months of delivery remaining.

You will take ownership from the current incumbent and drive the final phases of delivery, including go-live in July and subsequent rollout.

Operating at the intersection of technology, operations, and vendor delivery, this is a hands-on leadership role in a highly complex rostering environment – not a “vanilla PM” position.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

  • Leading end-to-end delivery of the RailCube program through to completion
  • Managing a lean team (7–8 direct + 7–8 indirect reports), including technical and functional leads
  • Driving Agile/Scrum delivery and ensuring outcomes over outputs
  • Running Steering Committee forums and engaging senior stakeholders across the business
  • Overseeing testing, integrations (RailCube, LMS, TMS) and release management
  • Managing scope, budget, timelines, and critical funding milestones (Sept/Oct)
  • Partnering closely with rail operations, planners, and SMEs in a safety-critical environment
  • Ensuring operational readiness, business adoption, and BAU transition

What You Bring

  • Strong Project Management fundamentals (10+ years in complex IT environments)
  • Experience in transport/ logistics (rail highly preferred)
  • Proven exposure to complex rostering or time & attendance systems (essential)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead in large, complex organisations with heavy stakeholder engagement
  • Strong Agile/Scrum capability (Scrum Master preferred)
  • Experience delivering large-scale, integrated technology programs
  • Ability to lead testing and integration phases (no SME expertise required)
  • Comfortable working in a high-pressure, in-flight program environment

Key Considerations

  • RailCube experience is rare, candidates with similar rostering/time & attendance platforms will be considered
  • Rostering at Pacific National is highly complex, domain understanding is critical
  • This role requires North Sydney presence (3 days per week)

Why Join?

  • Step into a critical, late-stage transformation with real operational impact
  • Lead a high-value program with executive visibility
  • Work within a collaborative, safety-first organisation
  • Opportunity to own delivery and leave a legacy
