Canadian Natural Resources is offering an eight month Joint Venture Student role in Calgary's Commercial Operations team, focusing on governance and administrative support for Joint Ventures. You will collaborate with Land, Accounting and Operations on contract administration, AFE review, partner engagement and process improvement. The ideal candidate is a 2nd to 4th year undergrad in Business, Accounting, Finance or a Land Administration certificate or related program such as Energy Asset Management, with keen attention to detail, data integrity and strong Excel skills plus familiarity with Power BI or Tableau. The position is Monday to Friday, 8 hours a day, start January or May 2027. As a student working as a part of the Commercial Operations Team focusing on Joint Ventures, you will provide critical administrative and operational support. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with stakeholders across the business, including Land, Accounting, and Operations, while developing strong communication and customer service skills.

  • Job location: Calgary, AB – Head Office
  • Shift schedule: 5 days on, 2 days off, 8 hours/day (Monday – Friday)
  • Term length: 8 months
  • Term starts: January or May 2027

Key Accountabilities:

  • Contribute to team success through a variety of projects, operational activities, and continuous improvement initiatives involving: 
    • Contract and commercial agreement administration
    • AFE review, approval coordination, and partner engagement
    • Joint Venture governance and ownership management
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across Land, Accounting, Operations, and other business areas to support Joint Venture activities and team objectives
  • Investigate, analyze and resolve business issues, stakeholder inquiries, and data discrepancies through root cause analysis, critical thinking, and sound business judgement
  • Leverage data analytics and visualization to drive process improvements and support informed decision making
  • Support the development, documentation, and optimization of business processes, controls and best practices

What You Bring to The Role:

  • Currently enrolled in your 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of an undergraduate degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or a Land Administration certificate or a related post-secondary education program such as Energy Asset Management (EAM)
  • Ability to foster a collaborative, results oriented work environment with a mindset for continuous improvement and value creation
  • Ability to manage multiple demands while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and data integrity
  • Familiarity with data visualization and reporting tools such as Power BI or Tableau
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word
