Earlybird is hiring a Junior Accountant to join the Berlin finance team on a full-time onsite basis. You will own day-to-day bookkeeping for our fund management entities, handle bookings, manage outgoing invoices, support annual financial statements, and collaborate with external tax advisors and auditors. Ideal candidates have accounting exposure through internships, working student roles, or studies, with basic DATEV familiarity a plus, but willingness to learn is a must. Fluency in German and English (C1) and a structured, proactive, detail-oriented mindset are essential. To apply, tailor your resume to show hands-on bookkeeping, ownership, and collaboration with auditors, and highlight process improvements. Non-traditional backgrounds are welcome.

About You

We are looking for a Junior Accountant to join our Berlin finance team. This is a hands-on role where you will take ownership of day-to-day bookkeeping across our fund management entities. It is a great entry point into the world of venture capital finance for someone detail-oriented, eager to learn, and ready to grow with the role.

About Earlybird

At Earlybird, we back the founders shaping Europe's future from before the breakthrough. Founded in 1997, we are one of Europe's most established and active venture capital firms, supporting exceptional technology companies across their growth journey with capital, strategic guidance, and access to a global network. With €2.5bn in assets under management, 9 IPOs, and 35 trade sales, we are proud of what we have built, and even prouder of the team that makes it possible.

At Earlybird, your projects, responsibilities, and tasks will likely include:

  • Handling the independent booking of business transactions

  • Preparing and manage outgoing invoices

  • Supporting the preparation of annual financial statements

  • Collaborating with our external tax advisors and auditors

  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of our finance processes and tools

What we hope you bring to the role:

  • First experience in accounting through an internship, working student role, apprenticeship, or a relevant degree

  • Basic familiarity with DATEV is a plus; willingness to learn it is a must

  • A structured, detail-oriented working style

  • Proactive and reliable: you follow through, flag issues early, and take ownership

  • Openness to digital tools and process improvements

  • Fluent German and English (C1)

We welcome applications from people with non-traditional backgrounds. You do not need to tick every box to be a strong candidate.

Why join us

  • A front-row seat to how one of Europe's leading VC firms operates across fund structures, portfolio companies, and the broader startup ecosystem

  • Direct exposure to complex accounting topics that most junior roles in traditional firms don't offer until much later

  • A small, focused team where your work is visible and your growth is taken seriously

  • A central Berlin office surrounded by the startups and investors shaping European tech

  • A culture built on integrity, curiosity, and ambition, where good ideas are heard regardless of title
