Join CERN’s Mechanics, Development and Design section to help design systems for accelerator beam transfer, contributing to concept design, 3D modeling and BOM creation, supporting manufacturing and site implementation, and collaborating with physicists, engineers and technicians to turn requirements into practical solutions while advancing pulsed power technologies. Essentials: hands-on 3D CAD experience (CATIA V5 a plus), knowledge of ISO GPS standards and BOMs, and some FEA exposure; familiarity with additive manufacturing and 3D scanning is a plus; materials knowledge helps. English is required with offered French training. Eligibility: national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State; max two years post graduation experience; bachelor’s or master’s degree; no CERN fellowship or PhD; onsite Geneva, 40 hours; 24 months with extension.
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will join the Mechanics, Development and Design (MDD) section, where you will contribute to the design and development of advanced electromechanical systems for accelerator beam transfer across the entire CERN accelerator complex. Working alongside experienced engineers, physicists and technicians, you will help develop innovative equipment used in a world-leading scientific research environment.
