Job Description

As a Kaitiaki at Summerset on the Landing, our Kenepuru village, you’ll play an important role in supporting the safest, healthiest and most enjoyable lifestyle possible for our Care Centre residents. You’ll be part of a close-knit team, focused on person-centred care and enhancing the wellbeing of every resident.

This role includes a strong focus on mobility support, recreation, and mealtime care – all guided by structured morning and afternoon shift schedules.

Typical duties include:

  • Supporting residents with meals and drinks, including one-on-one help where needed
  • Assisting residents to follow their mobility therapy plans (e.g., walking, gentle exercise)
  • Providing emotional support to residents who may feel anxious, isolated or confused
  • Helping maintain a safe environment, especially for those at risk of falling
  • Supporting individual and small group activities alongside Diversional and Recreational Therapists
  • Keeping accurate progress notes and alerting clinical staff to any concerns

The shifts/hours for this role are: Tuesday - Thursday 9am-2:30pm

Qualifications

You’ll be naturally empathetic, kind and patient, with a genuine interest in supporting older people. This role suits someone who thrives when making a meaningful difference each day.

You’ll bring with you:

  • Willingness to complete NZQA Dementia training modules
  • Emotional resilience and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong commitment to teamwork and continuous learning
  • Experience working in aged care or a related support role is ideal but not essential
