YMCA Victoria is seeking a Kitchen Assistant for Camp Manyung in Mount Eliza. This full-time onsite role supports the catering team to fuel campers with nutritious meals while upholding safety and inclusivity. Key duties include meal prep, assembling ingredients with care, and following food safety standards, all while living the Y values in every interaction. Shifts run Monday to Sunday with 7am-11am, 7am-2pm and 4:15pm-7:15pm. You don’t need to be a master chef; a proactive attitude, team spirit and commitment to a safe welcoming space matter most. About the Role

As a Kitchen Assistant at Camp Manyung, you will play a vital part in our catering team, ensuring our campers are fueled for their adventures with nutritious and delicious meals. You’ll be serving up smiles alongside food, making every mealtime a memorable part of the camp experience.

Key responsibilities include:

• Meal preparation: Preparing and providing meals, including catering to special dietary needs to ensure everyone feels included.
• Food handling: Assembling and preparing ingredients with care, precision, and a focus on quality.
• Safety first: Following best practices outlined in our food safety program to maintain a healthy environment.
• Living our values: Upholding the values of the Y in every interaction and task.

Shifts:

Standard shifts are generally between Monday - Sunday;

• 7am - 11am
• 7am -2pm
• 4:15pm - 7:15pm

About You

We are looking for a motivated individual who loves working as part of a team and is committed to excellence. You don't need to be a master chef; if you have enthusiasm and a proactive attitude, we want to hear from you.

What you bring to the table:

• Proactive attitude: You can take initiative and work unsupervised when needed.

• Experience: Knowledge of kitchen operations and food preparation is highly regarded, but not essential.

Camp Manyung is a recreation camp located in Mt Eliza on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula, and managed by YMCA Camps. Catering to schools and groups year-round, the team at Camp Manyung run a variety of programs and activities to suit every group, from snorkeling and kayaking to archery and raft building.
