Novotel Wellington is seeking a dedicated Kitchen Hand to join our kitchen team, with a flexible roster that includes mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays in a fast paced, high hygiene environment. You’ll assist with basic food prep, keep kitchens clean, wash dishes and equipment, manage waste, and support storage and organisation while following health and safety guidelines. What we look for is reliability, motivation and strong organisational skills, plus the ability to work well under pressure and in a team. Job Description

We are currently seeking a dedicated and reliable individual to join our kitchen team in the role of Kitchen Hand. As a Kitchen Hand, you will play a crucial role in supporting the kitchen operations and maintaining a clean and organised workspace.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in basic food preparation tasks as directed by the kitchen team.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in kitchen areas, including washing dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
• Ensure timely removal of waste and recycling, keeping disposal areas organized.
• Support kitchen staff in various tasks, contributing to the overall efficiency of the kitchen.
• Follow established health and safety guidelines in all aspects of the role.
• Assist with the organization and storage of kitchen supplies

Qualifications

• Ability to work a flexible roster including mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure.
• Motivated and driven.
• Strong organisational skills.
• Previous experience as a Kitchen Hand is advantageous but not essential.
• Ability to work well in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and hygiene.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
• Willingness to follow instructions and learn new tasks.
• Availability for the specified fixed-term duration.
• Must be a New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or hold a valid work visa/permit. (Immigration visa support or sponsorship is not available with this role)
