We are looking for energetic, hardworking, and enthusiastic individuals to aid in our kitchen operations at the Hermitage Hotel. Kitchen Stewards work to ensure that all Food Preparation and Service areas along with all general cooking/serving items are cleaned to the Hotels standards in a timely manner.
You will work across all food related areas; Alpine Restaurant, Panorama Room Restaurant, Sir Edmund Hillary café, Chamois Bar and Grill, stores and staff dining under the direction of the immediate Supervisor. This position can provide progression into a Chef position for the right candidate.
What will you be doing
• Clear dishes from dish station: prioritize during restaurant service times
• Follow and use the Hermitage Food Control Plan and Company Procedures
• Work as part of the Stewarding team to maintain a pleasant and safe working environment
• Assist with sorting linen and uniforms as per laundry service requirements
• Assist with Stores deliveries as required
• Move and rotate stock on FIFO (first-in-first-out) basis
• Run errands between kitchens and within the hotel as required
• Actively and positively communicate with colleagues
• Demonstrate competent and safe use of knives
• Food preparation including washing/peeling/cutting of various menu ingredients
• Preparation of platters
What you will bring to the role
• Six months or more experience working in a kitchen or cafe environment is preferred
• A passion for food and willingness to work in a fast-paced busy kitchen
• The ability to communicate and collaborate with colleagues
• A curiosity and openness to feedback and learning
• A commitment to food safety and high attention to detail
The role and benefits
• Full Time, permanent, minimum 60 hours per fortnight. Hourly rate is $25.00
