Job Description

  • Cleaning, sanitation and storage of all cutlery, crockery, kitchen equipment and appliances, using wither industrial washing machines or hand washing as appropriate.

  • Cleaning of walls, floors and general kitchen work spaces, working to cleaning schedule as prescribed for the area.

  • Cleaning of food storage areas including fridges, cool rooms and dry goods stores, ensuring that principles of food hygiene are being observed; report any hazards or problems to Executive Chef.

  • Remove rubbish regularly, ensure that kitchen and waste areas are free of refuse. Clean industrial bins on a daily basis.

  • General maintenance and cleaning of the loading dock.

  • Cleaning of the cutlery, plates, sink area and buffet of the employee restaurant.

  • Ensure cleaning equipment is maintained in effective working order, report any faults or repairs required to the Executive Chef.

  • Assist and liaise with chef on duty with basic food preparation; grating, peeling, chopping, preparing batters, garnishes and seasonings.

  • Any other reasonable request assigned by your manager

Qualifications

  • This role is physical - you will be on your feet and lifting items so being comfortable with this is imperative
  • You will need a strong attention to detail and clear communication skills
  • You can work well as part of a team in a fast paced environment, with effective time management skills
  • Previous experience in a similar role / hotel environment is advantageous
  • The ability and flexibility to work various rostered shifts, including early morning, late evenings and weekends.
  • You will need to hold working rights for New Zealand
