A day in the shipyard
In this role you’ll provide essential support to the crew by handling loads as you move materials to and from boats, while also keeping the yard clean and orderly. The job also involves handling steel and assisting with unloading materials, with additional support for the hull foreman as needed and a range of other duties assigned by supervisors.
Must-have requirements
- Ability to lift and push heavy objects up to 50 lbs as part of daily tasks
- Willingness to work in production tasks in confined spaces
- Physical agility to bend, kneel, squat, crawl and twist as the work requires
- Comfort working in both indoor and outdoor environments across varied weather conditions
- Capacity to work at heights greater than five feet while using manlifts and PPE fall arrest systems
- Ability to climb ladders and move between levels as needed
- Be responsive to verbal and audible directions or commands
Nice-to-haves
- Prior shipyard or similar industrial experience is a plus
- Experience in an industrial setting is beneficial
- A high school diploma is helpful but not required
