PURPOSE

The Lead Mechanical Designer – HVAC provides technical leadership and delivery oversight for HVAC and building services design on industrial and infrastructure projects. This role combines advanced HVAC design expertise with team leadership, coordination across disciplines, and accountability for quality, schedule, and constructability of deliverables.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Project & Technical Leadership

  • Lead HVAC design scope on assigned projects, ensuring compliance with Worley, client, and regulatory requirements.

  • Own HVAC layout, model development, and drawing production across project phases.

  • Provide technical guidance on system selection, equipment layout, ducting, piping interfaces, and constructability.

  • Support procurement with technical inputs, vendor coordination, and design clarifications.

Team Leadership & Coordination

  • Lead and mentor HVAC designers and junior staff.

  • Allocate work, manage workloads, and coordinate interfaces with Mechanical, Electrical, and Architectural disciplines.

Quality, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure HVAC deliverables comply with applicable codes (ASHRAE, CSA, local building codes) and Worley standards.

  • Promote safety in design and constructability best practices.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or related field.

  • Extensive HVAC design experience in industrial/commercial environments. Preference towards experience within an EPC/EPCM organization.

  • Proficiency in 3D modeling tools and HVAC design software.

  • Strong leadership and coordination skills.
