Lead Roads Engineer – Transport

From major state highways to complex urban corridors, our Transport team delivers projects that improve how people move every day. We're looking for an experienced Lead Roads Engineer to provide technical leadership across some of New Zealand's most significant transport infrastructure projects.

What you'll do

As a Lead Roads Engineer, you'll lead multidisciplinary design teams and influence projects from feasibility through to construction, delivering practical solutions that make a lasting impact.

  • Lead geometric road and civil design across feasibility, concept, detailed design and construction support.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring and design guidance to engineers and designers.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across transport planning, drainage, utilities, structures, pavements, rail, geotechnical and environmental disciplines.
  • Lead Safety in Design, constructability and project risk discussions.
  • Manage project scope, programme, commercial performance and design quality.
  • Build trusted relationships with NZTA, Auckland Transport, local authorities and key project stakeholders.
  • Help shape the future of our roads practice through technical leadership, innovation and continuous improvement.

What you'll bring

  • Strong experience delivering multidisciplinary transport or civil infrastructure projects in a consulting environment.
  • Proven capability in geometric road design, design review and technical leadership.
  • Experience working with NZTA, Auckland Transport or local authority standards.
  • The ability to lead and mentor teams while delivering integrated, buildable engineering solutions.
  • Experience with Civil 3D, OpenRoads or 12d, or leading teams using these tools.
  • Sound understanding of Safety in Design, constructability, commercial delivery and project risk.
  • Chartered (or working towards Chartership) with a relevant Civil Engineering qualification.
