JBA Learn to Play Instructor at The Y NSW is a people-first coaching entry point that blends sport, inclusivity and community impact. You’ll run fun beginner sessions on weekends and school holidays in the Northern Beaches, creating a safe, welcoming space while teaching dribbling, passing, shooting and teamwork. What matters most is energy, reliability and a genuine love of helping kids grow; basic basketball knowledge helps and coaching experience is a bonus but not required. You’ll need WWCC and First Aid/CPR or be willing to obtain them. Highlight your ability to lead small groups, set up gear, uphold safeguarding and show willingness to grow into coaching roles.

👟 The Role

As a Learn to Play Instructor, you’ll:

  • Deliver fun, age‑appropriate basketball sessions for beginner players
  • Create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all children
  • Teach basic basketball skills like dribbling, passing, and shooting
  • Encourage positive behaviour, teamwork, and participation
  • Set up and pack down equipment and support smooth session delivery
  • Represent JBA and The Y NSW professionally at all times

  • Enjoy working with children and young people
  • Bring energy, positivity, and enthusiasm to every session
  • Have basic basketball knowledge (coaching experience is a bonus, not required)
  • Can confidently lead small groups and keep sessions fun and engaging
  • Are reliable, friendly, and keen to learn
