Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

As the Faculty continues to grow, the Department of Economics is seeking an ambitious, collegial, and research-active Lecturer, (i.e. tenure-track Assistant Professor), Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor specialising in applied econometrics, microeconometrics and/or macroeconometrics.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong research potential and a commitment to excellent, research-informed teaching, enhanced by appropriate learning technologies. You will contribute to an exceptional learning experience for undergraduate and postgraduate students, teaching in your specialist area and more widely at introductory levels, while developing your academic profile through research, publication and supervision of research students.

You will be encouraged to build research partnerships, seek external funding and engage with professional, academic and non-academic communities. You will contribute to an intellectually vibrant academic environment through interdisciplinary collaboration, knowledge exchange and departmental service, with opportunities to work across and beyond the Department.

All candidates will bring the potential to contribute service and citizenship within and beyond the University, as well as to actively participate in Department, Faculty and University committees and activities.

This is a full-time (40 hours per week) permanent position (subject to continuation).

Remuneration depends on experience and achievements, and will be aligned with our Academic Standards policy. It will be within the following ranges:

Lecturer (L): NZ$99,788 - NZ$119,204
Senior Lecturer (SL): NZ$126,863 - NZ$158,904
Associate Professor (AP): From NZ$165,808

You will be a collegial academic with excellent communication skills and the ability to clearly articulate your ideas, research, and future plans. The successful appointee will have a PhD in Economics (or be near completion), with demonstrated excellence in research and a commitment to high quality research-informed teaching. You will have a research programme that complements and builds upon existing areas of strength within the Department. These areas include, but are not limited to:
