We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Legal Counsel to join our team in our Kent Street office in Sydney. As a key contributor, you will play a pivotal role in managing contract reviews, providing legal advice, and ensuring compliance in the ANZ region. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated legal professional to make a significant impact in a fast-paced and innovative environment.

You will ensure supplier and customer commercial contract risks are understood and mitigated, as well as support the Legal function more broadly.

Responsibilities:

Contract Review and Advice:

  • Assess and advise on counterparty proposed terms
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to determine negotiation strategy
  • Prepare transactional documents and variations to contracts
  • Negotiate to reach consensus with stakeholders and redraft contracts
  • Manage contract termination, renewal, and identify ongoing obligations
  • Handle claims and disputes, negotiating changes to contracts
  • Communicate signed agreements and obligations to relevant parties
  • Oversee and report on contract performance and compliance

Operational Framework and Projects:

  • Establish and maintain operating guidelines
  • Contribute to specific targets by maintaining contract review templates, options and clauses based on policies, risk appetite and contract manual
  • Undertake regular transactional data analysis and reporting
  • Identify capabilities and contract models to support proposals
  • Conduct research and benchmarking to establish new policies and procedures

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree in Law and Admission to the Bar
  • 2-3 years' experience in a similar role or private practice
  • Experience in reviewing, analysing, and drafting complex commercial contracts
  • Advanced knowledge of corporate law, contract, and commercial law
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity
  • Results-oriented with strategic influencing capabilities
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills with strong stakeholder management
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects
