Machinist Externship (Part‑Time)
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM
We are offering a part-time Machinist Externship in partnership with JM Perry Technical Institute. This program provides hands-on, industry‑aligned training designed to support students and emerging professionals seeking real-world machining experience. Participants will gain exposure to machining processes, shop safety, and the technical skills needed for future roles in manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist machinists with setup, operation, and basic maintenance of machining equipment
• Support production tasks including part handling, measurement, and documentation
• Learn and apply shop safety procedures and best practices
• Read and follow work instructions, drawings, and basic measurement requirements
• Maintain a clean and organized work area
Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED
• Enrollment in (or completion of) the Precision Machining Certification Program at JM Perry Technical Institute
• Strong interest in machining, manufacturing, or mechanical trades
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
• Reliable attendance and punctuality
• Willingness to learn in a fast‑paced environment
• Ability to perform applied math calculations (measurements, conversions, tolerances)
• Familiarity with precision measuring tools
• Basic understanding of machining processes or mechanical systems
• Ability to read simple part drawings or blueprints
