About the Role

This isn’t a standard maintenance job — it’s hands-on, varied, and perfect for someone who loves practical problem‑solving with plenty of autonomy.

You’ll be:
🔧 Diagnosing & repairing mechanical, electrical and hydraulic issues
🚚 Travelling the South Island to service and maintain specialist Parts Washer units
⚙️ Working with pumps, motors, industrial machinery, and custom-built equipment
🔥 Handling breakdowns, fault-finding and welding repairs (ticket a bonus)
📝 Keeping accurate service records and job sheets
🔩 Maintaining tools, equipment, and ensuring gear is safe and service-ready
🤝 Representing WM with professionalism and customer-focused service

Qualifications

Who We’re Looking For

A highly skilled Maintenance Engineer or Mechanical Fitter with:

  • A relevant mechanical trade qualification
  • Strong mechanical, electrical & hydraulic fault-finding ability
  • Experience with pumps or industrial machinery
  • Welding skills (ticket ideal, but not essential)
  • Class 1 licence (Class 4 bonus)
  • Dangerous Goods/hazardous substances experience (advantageous)
  • Forklift licence or willingness to obtain
  • A self-driven, solutions-focused mindset
