The Junior Adventures Group is hiring for its sKids Woodlands Park site in Auckland, New Zealand. sKids has spent decades delivering after-school programs that mix laughter, learning, and adventure, and they now serve more than 3,800 children every day across more than 170 school sites nationwide. The Woodlands Park role is on-site and part of a broader team that values hands-on activity, creativity, and safe, structured play.

The role targets managers and assistant managers who want to shape engaging, reliable sessions for tamariki. Shifts are scheduled Monday to Friday with a minimum commitment of 10-15 hours per week, including early mornings and late afternoons. The schedule includes morning before-school shifts from 7:00 to 8:30 am and afternoon after-school shifts from 2:30 to 6:00 pm, with availability from 2:30 pm being essential, and potential holiday programme hours from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. It’s an onsite position at Woodlands Park that’s ideal for someone who likes steady hours and meaningful, energetic work with kids.

If you’re looking for a role where you can lead, plan, and interact with families, this could be a strong fit. The job blends hands-on supervision with activity planning, relationship building with parents and school staff, and coaching junior team members. It’s a chance to build a routine that’s both purposeful and enjoyable for you and the tamariki in your care.

What Youll Do Day To Day At Woodlands Park

You’ll take full ownership of the day-to-day running of the sKids programme, ensuring smooth operations from set-up to pack-down. You’ll lead and manage a large group of children, confidently handling a range of behaviours while creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment. You’ll plan and deliver structured activities, from arts and crafts and sport to games, offsite trips, baking, drama, and music, tailoring sessions to varying needs and interests. You’ll proactively manage challenging behaviour with positive guidance strategies and work to support tamariki with diverse needs.

Building strong, professional relationships with parents, caregivers, and school staff will be a key part of the role, as you’ll be the onsite point of contact. You’ll lead, coach, and delegate to Programme Assistants to ensure high standards and a well-run programme, while preparing in advance, organising resources, planning activities, and setting clear expectations for the team so each session runs smoothly.

Advice For Woodlands Park Manager Applicants

Put your leadership of groups of children and ownership of programmes up front on your resume. Start with a role or project where you drove the day-to-day operations, showing how you kept sessions running smoothly and safely.

In interviews, be ready to recount times you managed challenging behaviour with positive guidance strategies and maintained a calm, firm approach. Explain how you communicated with parents, schools, and your team and how you supported Programme Assistants to deliver strong sessions.

Prepare to describe how you plan activities, manage resources, and set clear expectations for your team so every session hits the mark. Think through a sample day and how you’d handle disruptions, plus how you’d coordinate with caregivers and school staff on site.

Ask a thoughtful question about the role’s structure, such as how many hours are typically available during school holidays, what onboarding or safeguarding training looks like, and how the team collaborates with schools to ensure smooth operations at Woodlands Park.
