Rotorua Lakes Council is looking for an experienced and forward-thinking Manager Building Services to lead the delivery of our building control functions and provide technical and professional leadership across the organisation.

About the Role
As Manager Building Services, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for Council's building-related activities, ensuring the effective delivery of integrated building control functions that meet legislative requirements and community expectations.
You will champion a customer-responsive approach while driving continuous improvement, building capability within your team, and fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include:
• Leading the delivery of building control functions and services across the organisation.
• Providing professional and technical leadership on building-related matters.
• Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, accreditation standards, and Council policies.
• Driving a culture of customer service, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
• Building strong relationships with customers, elected members, industry professionals, regulatory agencies, and internal teams.
• Managing team performance, capability development, and resource planning.
• Contributing to strategic planning and organisational initiatives.
About You
You are an experienced people leader with a strong background in building control, regulatory services, or a related technical environment. You are passionate about delivering excellent customer outcomes and have the ability to balance operational requirements with strategic thinking.
