Your Role

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Legal Assistant Services and working in our Toronto office, the successful candidate will assist in managing day-to-day operations of our Legal Assistant Services (LAS) team. The role provides leadership across LAS teams in both Toronto and Ottawa, and supports consistent service delivery, team development, and operational efficiency across the department.

This role offers a hybrid work arrangement requiring three (3) days onsite.

Primary Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and support members of the Legal Assistant Services team, including Legal Assistants, Legal Administrative Assistants, and the Legal Support Services (LSS) document specialist group.
  • Foster a collaborative, client-focused team culture and promote ongoing learning and development.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and integration of new team members.
  • Provide regular coaching and guidance to support performance and growth.

Operational Oversight

  • Oversee daily operations to ensure consistent, high‑quality administrative support across practice groups.
  • Monitor workloads and support effective coordination of work across Toronto and Ottawa teams.
  • Promote efficient workflows and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Partner with lawyers and internal stakeholders to understand evolving support needs.

Client Service & Communication

  • Champion service excellence and ensure professional, timely communication.
  • Support conflict resolution and promote positive working relationships across the firm.
  • Escalate issues appropriately and collaborate with leadership as needed.

Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • Post‑secondary education in Legal Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Additional training in leadership, management, or change management is an asset.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a law firm or professional services environment, with strong exposure to legal support operations.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of leadership experience, such as:
    • Experience supporting multiple support functions (LA, LAA, LSS) is preferred.
    • Demonstrated ability to coach teams, manage competing priorities, and support operational improvements.
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage workflows and support team performance.
  • High degree of professionalism, sound judgment, and adaptability.
  • Comfort navigating change and supporting new processes or technologies.

Pay Range

$95,000 to $115,000 per annum. Pay range to be commensurate with experience.
