Merck Group invites Master students to a six month Master thesis internship in Lab Automation and Dissolution Studies in Darmstadt, starting August, within Excipients R&D. You will develop and evaluate a key analytical method to enable AI based predictions of solid formulation properties, perform HPLC and dissolution experiments, interpret data, and design studies with experts to accelerate progression to the clinic. Ideal candidates are enrolled in Chemistry or related fields with experience in small molecule analytics, solid dosage forms, data analysis, and a strong interest in laboratory automation, APIs and liquid handling; English fluent and German desirable. Your role: 

We offer the opportunity for a master thesis in the field of excipient research & lab automation. By joining our Excipients R&D as part of the Life Science sector, you will be part of a cross-disciplinary team addressing a broad range of small molecules, biomolecules, and novel modalities.

With your thesis embedded in an ongoing research project focusing on predictive formulation and lab automation, you will contribute to an AI-based offering, that will help customers to get their molecules into the clinic faster. Your task will be the further development and evaluation of a key-analytical method designed to enable predictions of solid formulation properties.

Besides performing experiments using state-of-the art analytical methods, you will interpret the data and design your studies in close collaboration with experts in the field and using latest literature.

 

Who you are:

  • Currently enrolled as master student in a German university, e.g. in Chemistry, or a closely related field.
  • For current pharmacy students an internship according to §4 AAppO (Germany) is possible
  • Experience in small molecule analytics, HPLC and dissolution studies.
  • Experience with drug formulation (ideally solid dosage forms) and different approaches to enhance solubility.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis.
  • Self-motivated and eager, striving to acquire new skills and able to work independently.
  • Creativity, curiosity and an open mindset
  • Fluency in English and conversational German desirable
  • Interest in laboratory automation; first experience with automated workflows,
  • Application programming interfaces and liquid handling is a plus

 

Duration: 6 months, starting from August
