Slough Borough Council’s Mayors Support Officer is a part time role (0.5 FTE) based at Observatory House with hybrid working (minimum two days in the office). You will provide admin, diary and event support to the Mayor, acting as the first contact for Mayor’s Office and upholding governance. The successful candidate will be calm under pressure, proactive, diplomatic and well organised, able to manage competing priorities and build relationships across the council and partner organisations. What you’ll be doing:

This is a key civic-facing role supporting the Mayor of Slough Borough Council and helping to ensure the effective delivery of the Council’s civic and mayoral responsibilities.

Working within the Leader and Civic Office, you will provide high‑quality administrative, organisational and diary support to the Mayor, acting as the first point of contact for the Mayor’s Office and representing the Mayor when managing enquiries. You will play a central role in the planning, coordination and delivery of civic events and ceremonies, ensuring that protocol, tradition and good governance are upheld.

This is a unique opportunity to work at the heart of the Council’s democratic and civic life, building strong relationships across the organisation, with elected members, partner organisations and the wider community. You will be part of a role where no two days are the same.

We are looking for someone who is calm under pressure, proactive, diplomatic and exceptionally well organised,  with the ability to manage competing priorities and communicate confidently with a wide range of people.

Annual increments, where applicable, are usually payable on 1st April each year, subject to six months service in the post, until the maximum spinal column point of the level has been reached. The payment of annual increments is not automatic and is subject to satisfactory performance as assessed by your director.
