Mechanical Engineer – Building Services

We're looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our Christchurch team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys technical delivery, client engagement and working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams on complex and rewarding projects.

The role

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will:

  • Lead the design and delivery of mechanical building services projects.
  • Design HVAC, ventilation, heating, cooling and associated mechanical systems.
  • Prepare technical reports, calculations, specifications and design documentation.
  • Coordinate with clients, architects, contractors and other engineering disciplines.
  • Undertake site inspections, construction support and design reviews.
  • Deliver projects to programme, budget and quality objectives.
  • Support proposal development and contribute to winning work.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers within the team.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships.

About you

We're interested in candidates who have:

  • A tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Around 5–10 years' experience within building services consulting.
  • Strong technical knowledge of HVAC and mechanical building systems.
  • Experience delivering projects across commercial, healthcare, education, transport, aviation or public sector facilities.
  • An understanding of sustainable building design and energy-efficient solutions.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Chartered status, or progress towards chartership, would be advantageous.
