CERN is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to help enhance the LHCb electromagnetic calorimeter (ECAL), including production of new ECAL modules and reassembly of the ECAL structure. You will prepare 3D models and drawings, participate in procurement and quality assurance for new modules, contribute to the reassembly with finite element studies, and engage in R&D to improve existing ECAL modules. The ideal candidate has a proven track record in 3D CAD design, hands-on structural simulations, and experience with heavy absorbers (lead, tungsten) or metal additive manufacturing is a plus. CATIA and ANSYS knowledge is advantageous; you must thrive in an international multi-disciplinary team and produce clear technical documentation; English required, willingness to learn French. Eligibility requires CERN Member State nationality, up to two years post graduation with a bachelor or master, no prior CERN fellowship or graduate contract, PhD not eligible. The contract is 24 months with possible extension up to 36, hybrid, Geneva onsite, target start 01 September 2026, with work in radiation areas and medical clearance required before offer.
