Job Description

Mō tēnei tūranga mahi (About the position)

We’re looking for a Mechanical Pipeline Technician to bring some good energy to our Specialist Trades team.  This is a fantastic role for someone who loves getting out and about, interacting with a range of stakeholders and working on assets of national significance.

  • Undertake high quality mechanical maintenance services on our gas transmission network.
  • Take charge and get involved in site operations during the construction phase of station or pipeline maintenance, installation, repairs and modifications.
  • Provide mechanical support to Hot Tapping, Isolations and other pipeline intervention activities.
  • Provide routine and non-routine valve maintenance and repair services.
  • Assist with operational services such as pipeline construction, pigging and commissioning.
  • Maintaining and testing of instrumentation and control system tubing.
  • Participate in the 24/7 On-Call roster and emergency response.
  • Provide first response to emergency situations.  Act as Site Controller for emergencies

This role works as part of a team working across the motu.  This role works in remote locations, either independently or as part of a small team.

Qualifications

As well as being an awesome team member who brings a 'can do' attitude and good energy to everything you do, you'll also leverage your relationship management skills to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders

You are mechanically minded with a relevant trade qualification to match (such as mechanical, fitter/turner, automative or plant maintenance trades).  You’ll have an understanding of technical drawings, isolations and isolating plant.  

An ability to work independently, self-manage, prioritise and proactively communicate is important, along with a full, clean driver's licence.   You strive for continuous improvement, developing yourself and others as you share your experiences, particularly with apprentices and your hoamahi.
