AbbVie is seeking an experienced, dynamic Medical Manager to lead specific therapeutic area strategy, drive evidence generation, and champion meaningful patient outcomes; all at the intersection of science, innovation, and real-world impact. KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain current knowledge of disease state, treatment paradigms, therapy aligned products, patient experience, and healthcare system factors.
- Interpret emerging evidence and clinical data to inform decisions and scientific exchange.
- Provide scientific input to cross-functional teams.
- Develop medical plans informed by evidence, insights, priorities, and external trends.
- Partner with key stakeholders to ensure aligned execution.
- Anticipate scientific and system shifts and incorporate them into planning.
- Represent Medical in brand, launch, and lifecycle forums
- Plan and execute therapy area medical budget in line with AbbVie financial planning processes ensuring alignment with medical strategy.
- Lead insight generation including those from field teams, external stakeholders and clinical trends using digital tools where appropriate. Translating insights into actionable recommendations and for the business.
- Identify evidence gaps affecting care, access, and adoption.
- Support and/or lead local evidence initiatives, including RWE, IIS, registries, and Phase IV studies aimed at closing evidence and access gaps.
- Interpret evidence and communicate implications clearly.
- Incorporate patient insights and lived experience into planning.
- Engage with patient organisations to understand unmet needs and barriers to care.
- Support initiatives that improve patient understanding, treatment pathways, and quality of care.
- Help teams understand the patient journey and factors influencing treatment decisions
- Build professional relationships with clinicians, researchers, investigators, societies, and professional organisations.
- Plan and execute medical advisory boards and round tables.
- Deliver scientific presentations and medical education programs to healthcare professionals individually or in groups (meetings, clinical sessions, etc.), where appropriate.
- Ensure scientific exchange is balanced, transparent, and compliant with internal and external standards.
- Support scientific elements of access, reimbursement, and policy initiatives.
- Review promotional and non-promotional materials for accuracy, balance, fairness, and compliance.
- Partner with Therapy Area Specialists to ensure consistent scientific communication.
- Support approval processes, documentation, and medical accuracy across channels.
- Demonstrate integrity and sound scientific judgement in all outputs.
- Develop and drive the medical omnichannel strategy
- Use the Content Authoring Tool (eWizard) to support omnichannel activities, including Customer Experience Flows or Journeys in the execution of medical strategy.
- Use dashboards, analytics tools, and medical systems to support and improve strategy and insights generation.
- Stay current on digital health trends, AI, and relevant technologies.
- Develop eWizard materials and digital content to support scientific exchange.
- Report any adverse event within 24 hours as per AbbVie’s policies and procedures.
- Proactively participate in AbbVie’s WHS programs, adhere to policies and promote a safe work environment at all times.
- Adhere to AbbVie’s internal codes of conduct and compliance processes.
- Other ad hoc duties such as administrative duties, as requested.
Qualifications
- Degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Medicine, Nursing or a related discipline
- Experience in Medical Affairs, clinical research, or a similar scientific role
- Postgraduate study in Pharmaceutical Medicine, Medical Affairs, Public Health, Clinical Research, Epidemiology, Health Economics or Digital Health.
- Experience supporting evidence generation initiatives.
- Experience engaging external experts or health system partners.
- Familiarity with medical systems and analytical tools such as Veeva and dashboards.

- External scientific relationship strength and credibility, and in-field activity.

- Contribution to Medical Affairs capability uplift and organisational learning.
