TAL is seeking a full-time Medical Officer to work onsite in Sydney, drawing on its 150-year legacy to protect Australians while shaping underwriting and claims decisions. You’ll provide evidence-based medical reviews, coach underwriters and claims staff, and help develop medical definitions, guidelines, and training while collaborating with the Chief Medical Officer and external specialists. To succeed, demonstrate at least three years of clinical practice, sharp clinical reasoning, the ability to prioritise and adapt in a fast-paced environment, and strong communication and influencing skills. TAL is currently seeking qualified medical professionals with experience in clinical practice but now looking for a career in the private sector. Does this sound like you?
As a Medical Officer at TAL, you will provide evidence-based reviews of customer medical information during underwriting and at the time of claim. Your role involves supporting and coaching claim staff and underwriters to interpret and obtain relevant, specific medical information for assessing new business applications or claims.
As a subject matter expert with experience reviewing underwriting applications and claims, you will provide medical insights and analysis of information to a wide range of stakeholders across TAL. This includes supporting the review and development of medical definitions, processes, guidelines, training, and contributing to new health-related initiatives across the customer lifecycle.
