ABOUT CANNINGTON
Our Cannington operation is one of the world's largest producers of silver and lead. Located in northwest Queensland, Cannington boasts an underground mine and processing facility situated approximately 800 kilometres west of Townsville and a concentrate handling facility at the Port of Townsville.
Flights are direct to the onsite airport, and the mine is only 3.5 km from camp—the perfect distance for a sunset walk or run home along a purpose-built walking track. The onsite accommodation includes meal services, sports/gym facilities, swimming pool, music room, and social area.

ABOUT THE ROLE
This role is a Permanent full-time position on an 8:6 roster, Monday to Monday, FIFO from Brisbane and Townsville, or DIDO from Mount Isa, Cloncurry and McKinlay shires.
As the Metallurgist, you will be responsible for monitoring and enhancing processing plant performance through data-driven decision making, operational optimisation and continuous improvement initiatives that support safe and efficient production.
Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:
- Deliver production reporting, forecasting and performance insights
- Develop operational strategies with cross-functional stakeholders
- Conduct cost-benefit analyses and business case evaluation
- Lead projects to develop and implement improvement opportunities
- Coach operators in technical knowledge and plant performance principles
ABOUT YOU
You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:
- Process optimisation within a minerals processing environment. Understanding of comminution and flotation is a must; base metals experience will be highly regarded.
- Quantitative analysis and interpretation of complex operational data
- Clear communication across multiple disciplines and stakeholder groups
- Strong planning, organisation and prioritisation skills
Qualifications for this position are:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline
- Current Open Drivers Licence
