As a MOCVD Technician, you will support the operation, maintenance, and reliability of epitaxy systems used in semiconductor manufacturing.
This is a hands-on technical role focused on maintaining complex gas, vacuum, and reactor systems that enable the production of high-performance semiconductor laser materials. You will work closely with engineering and production teams to ensure safe, stable, and efficient operation of critical manufacturing equipment.
Key Responsibilities

Equipment Maintenance & Reliability
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on MOCVD reactors and associated infrastructure (gas supply, abatement, vacuum systems)
- Support maintenance of vacuum pumps and gas systems

Troubleshooting & Repairs
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and process-related issues to ensure system uptime
- Replace and maintain components such as filters, piping, and gas handling systems

Safety & Operations
- Safely handle and exchange pressurized gas cylinders, following strict safety protocols

Monitoring & Process Stability
- Monitor and interpret system data and logs for fault diagnosis (e.g. SPC)
- Ensure equipment availability and process stability in a production environment
- Document maintenance and service activities in line with quality standards

Testing & Systems Support
- Support the setup and maintenance of measurement and testing systems (e.g. wafer characterisation or similar diagnostic equipment)
- Work with control systems (PLC-based) to identify and resolve operational issues
Qualifications
- Completed technical training, apprenticeship, or equivalent in Mechatronics, Electronics, Automation, Industrial Mechanics, or a related field
- ~3+ years of hands-on technical experience (or strong apprenticeship background)
- Experience in semiconductor manufacturing, chemical processing, gas systems, vacuum systems, or similar industrial environments is a plus, but not required.
Skills & Other Requirements
- Understanding of basic physics and technical systems (pressure, gas flow, electrical fundamentals)
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical diagrams
- Experience with maintenance and troubleshooting of industrial equipment
- Strong awareness of safety protocols, particularly in regulated or hazardous environments
- Ability to work in a cleanroom and safety-critical environment, including use of respiratory protection equipment (training provided)
- German working proficiency required and English language skills is a plus
