Job Purpose:

The Network Administrator is responsible for overseeing the organization’s network infrastructure, personal computer systems and related services to ensure proper maintenance and security by provisioning, maintaining, upgrading and managing network software, hardware and related services. Their duties include working with other IT staff and company employees to identify network and computer system needs, overseeing the installation of new hardware or software and using network user and IT staff feedback to isolate and resolve issues. The Network Administrator also assists in achieving the goals of the IT Department in the selection, deployment, operation and maintenance of various network services, devices, hardware, desktop solutions and software support.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Adheres to company policies and presents a professional, positive attitude at all times. 
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, resolve, track and communicate technical issues on a variety of types of hardware, operating systems, software, and platforms. Diagnosis may include account setup and network configuration.
  • Properly escalate and track unresolved issues to appropriate internal teams and vendors to completion.
  • Pro-actively maintain, monitor, and remediate network connectivity and performance.
  • Install, configure, and maintain computer network equipment, software applications, services and required settings and communicate intent and required collaboration needed to appropriate management, departmental staff, users, and vendors.
  • Test release of software and hardware products to minimize user disruptions, ensure compatibility and identify required communications with users, management, and departmental staff.
  • Assist in network equipment selection, services design, and implementation strategy to support continuous improvement and company growth.
  • Plan the selection, deployment, and updates of standardized company software in use.
  • Implement and maintain security measures.
  • Evaluate and recommend security improvements and system upgrades. •Develop, monitor, and administer software policy settings for the use of network resources.
  • Create technical support documentation of systems and applications for both users and support personnel.
  • Provide prompt and accurate feedback to users.
  • Refer to internal documentation, departmental procedures, and external resources to provide accurate technology solutions and configurations.
  • Solicit user feedback to ensure systems are fully functional after troubleshooting and remediation, and benchmark systems productivity and efficiency.
  • Document configurations and appropriate helpdesk procedures in departmental knowledge base software.
  • Assist with day-to-day IT operations including administrative procedures, asset management and inventory controls.
  • Research new technology, stay current on technical literature and industry standards.
  • Maintain professional, effective relationships with users.
  • Other duties as needed or assigned. 


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) or professional training in computer science, information technology, or equivalent strongly preferred.
  • Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA or MCSE) is preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Minimum of five to ten (5-10) years proven experience as in supporting network equipment, network deployments, security principles, and/or associated management software, and exposure to Windows, Linux, and MacOS environments.
