J.D. Irving, Limited seeks an experienced NDE Inspector to lead on site coordination and execution, ensuring class standards and cost and schedule management. You will partner with Lloyd’s Register, QC, production teams and subcontractors to define requirements, validate requests and secure access, while performing NDE and pursuing relevant certifications. Deliverables are expected within 3 to 6 months, including managing NDE requests, supervising on site subcontractors in Halifax and turning NDE findings into practical improvements. Requirements: Red Seal or related diploma, 5+ years in NDE or shipbuilding, VT MPI LPI UT, ASNT II Visual or equivalent, strong drawing reading and communication; CGP ITAR and security clearances required. As an NDE Inspector, you’ll lead the coordination and execution of non-destructive examinations, ensuring compliance with classification society standards while minimizing cost and schedule impacts. You’ll collaborate closely with Lloyd’s Register, QC, production teams, and subcontractors to define requirements, validate technical requests, and ensure proper access for inspections.
You’ll also work toward obtaining NDE certifications and support hands-on inspections as needed. This role is accountable for key deliverables within a 3–6 month horizon.
Due to the nature of work Irving Shipbuilding does, all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
