Alfred Health is recruiting a Nurse Practitioner Grade 6 for Alcohol and Other Drugs at The Alfred, full-time, on-site in the AMAH team, Bayside Health network serving 1.2 million people. The NP will work autonomously with the ability to prescribe medications, order investigations, refer, admit/discharge, and provide advanced clinical care in addiction, physical and mental health. Requirements: Division 1 RN, current AHPRA NP endorsement, Masters NP or approved equivalence, 5+ years in senior nursing with relevant experience. Department

Alfred Mental & Addiction Health (AMAH) is responsible for the operation of services which focus on people with a mental illness residing in the Inner Southeastern area of Melbourne.

About the role

The Nurse Practitioner is a registered nurse who has acquired the expert knowledge base, complex decision-making skills and clinical competencies for expanded practice.

In this role, you will be an integral member of the health care team who practices autonomously but in collaboration with other health professionals to assess and manage clients within their clinical context using nursing knowledge and skills. Extensions to practice include prescription of medications and at least one of the following: ordering diagnostic investigations, direct referral to other health care professionals, the ability to admit and discharge patients and/or provision of absence from work certificates.

About you

Academic

• Division 1 Registered nurse
• Registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
• Post graduate qualifications in a relevant speciality 
• Current endorsement by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as a Nurse Practitioner, having completed a Masters of Nurse Practitioner (or a Masters granted equivalence of qualification by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency plus an approved Therapeutic Medication Management module)

Experience

• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a senior nursing role
• Relevant experience in clinical assessment and treatment in the areas of addiction, physical health and/or mental health
• Evidence of competent utilisation of extensions to advanced nursing practice according to approved Clinical Practice Guidelines in mental and addiction health
