SEHA is seeking a qualified Occupational Therapist for a full-time onsite role in Abu Dhabi who can work independently or under supervision to deliver high quality therapy in line with organizational standards. The position involves comprehensive patient assessments, development and execution of individualized treatment plans, client-centered interventions, discharge planning, and ongoing documentation, audits and quality improvement activities. You will supervise junior staff, manage equipment and supplies, and participate in risk assessment for vulnerable patients, including travel with patients for treatment and home visits when required, with bilingual interpretation as needed. A minimum of two years post graduate experience in acute care or rehabilitation is required, along with CPD/CME hours for re-licensing. The role is responsible to independently or under the supervision of senior therapists conduct all operations related to occupational therapy by observing all standards of operational rules and procedures.
 


Managerial   Supervising junior staff and ensuring their abidance to going rules and policies as applied and implemented in the Section/Department/Facility (as per requirement)

Maintaining sufficient inventory of material supplies and equipment for performance of duties

Reporting shortage of materials to supervisor at earliest convenience, ordering and approving replenishments when necessary

Technical   Undertaking full comprehensive & accurate assessment of patients physical, psychological and social needs including those patients with diverse or complex presentations/multi pathologies; using investigative and analytical skills, and formulate individualized management and treatment plans, using advanced clinical reasoning and utilizing a wide range of treatment knowledge, skills and options to formulate a specialized program of care

Undertaking client-centered & occupation focused assessments & interventions

Receiving referral, screening, prioritizing, assessing, identifying need, planning intervention, implementing, evaluating, adjusting and reviewing to address patient’s complex and changing needs, including the impact on carer and carer’s needs using professional judgment and clinical reasoning

Being alert to the needs of vulnerable patients group including risk assessment and taking appropriate action when required

Working under indirect supervision to diagnose, assess, plan and implement patient specific programs of care/rehabilitation, contributing to the continuous assessment of patients

Evaluating patient progress and alter treatment programmes as and when appropriate

Involving patients in goals and treatment proposals.  To gain valid informed consent.  To work within the legal framework with patients who lack capacity for informed consent

Being responsible for own caseload under the clinical supervision of a senior Occupational Therapist and to deal with referrals in line with the departmental policy

Using a range of verbal and non-verbal communication tools to communicate effectively with patients, and their families/carers, the diagnosis and treatment plan to help progress rehabilitation.  This will include patients who may have difficulties with understanding or communication

Developing comprehensive discharge plans and work with relevant professionals to arrange ongoing care

Completing all necessary records, reports and statistics in line with agreed occupational therapy service policy and professional guidelines.. Record personally generated clinical observations

Being responsible for care and adjustment as necessary and maintenance of equipment as appropriate

Maintaining up to date clinical and professional knowledge in order to provide a well developed level of informed professional knowledge, and according to organizational requirements (e.g. minimum of CPD / CME hours per year required for re- licensing)

Travel with patient wherever required in and out of UAE for treatment

Performs home-occupational therapy treatment when required, Royal or VIP patient

Can be required to interpret if bilingual

Quality & Safety   Promoting and maintaining quality in all services and ensure continuous quality improvement measures are in place. Conduct method evaluation/development as per standard policies and procedures

Complying with all safety, health and quality control programs and procedures as applicable

Complying with applicable organizational competencies and precautions for environmental safety, infection control, using a series of interventions that minimize or prevent cross infection

Maintaining the strictest confidence in relation to patient information whether formally or informally recorded

Practicing within the expressed limits of established policies and procedures

Ensuring that SOP (standard operation procedures) and Quality Assurance tests are maintained within all sections

Being responsible for documenting all intervention in appropriate format

Comply and support clinical audit processes within the service and report on these as agreed

Communicating in a professional and courteous manner with patients, family and other medical personnel as necessary to obtain information for laboratory records, explain procedures, clarify orders and communicate status

Assist in training of students if required
 

Qualification :- 

 Special Certificate:- 

   Required: 
a. NLT 2 years post graduate experience as an Occupational Therapist in relevant experience with patients with same diagnosis seen in acute care hospital or Rehab Facilities
