Operating Room Technicians, assist in surgical operations under the supervision of surgeons, registered nurses, or other surgical personnel. They are members of operating room teams, which most commonly include surgeons, anesthesiologists, and circulating nurses.
- To assist in preparing the room for surgery
- They are responsible for having surgical instruments, sterile bandages and linens, needed fluids, and other equipment ready for the operation.
- They are responsible to handle the special instruments such as Laparoscopic towers, Monitors, Lasers, Electric cautery, tourniquet, pumps, etc.
- Operating room Technicians are skilled to assemble orthopedic table, neurosurgery drills etc. They also have to dismantle, clean, and disinfect these things in store for the following case.
- Ensure that patient is positioned securely and safely on the operating table prior to surgery and on the patient trolley at the completion of surgery.
- Promote patient safety at all times.
- Keep abreast of the progress of and knowledge to maintain the highest standard of professional competence.
- Be familiar with correct operation of all equipment.
- A high school Diploma or its equivalent is required. With vocational trainings in
operating room technology. Programs vary between one year to two years. (Training
in medical terminology, physiology, and sterilization methods.)
4.2 Current license in country of origin with DHA license to practice in U.A.E.
4.3 Excellent command of oral and written English. Arabic language advantageous/desirable but not essential.
