Job Description

Synopsis

The Operations Systems Specialist is responsible for the administration, configuration, implementation, and continuous improvement of operational systems that support Etihad's airport and passenger services operations. The role acts as a key liaison between operational stakeholders, ground handling partners, and technology teams to ensure systems are configured and maintained to meet business, regulatory, and operational requirements. The incumbent supports system enhancements, new airport launches, process optimisation initiatives, testing activities, and the deployment of new functionality across the network. By managing operational system changes, resolving issues, maintaining documentation, and driving continuous improvement, the Operations System Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring efficient, reliable, and customer-focused airport operations while supporting strategic business objectives and industry best practices.

Accountabilities

  • Administer departure control system solutions and manage system-related projects for Etihad operations and hosted third-party ground handling carriers including key alliance partners.
  • Action all system settings, parameters and outputs for accuracy, safety, and regulatory compliance, ensuring all operating limitations are met and aligned with business needs.
  • Perform activities and project tasks to execute company and departmental initiatives.
  • Action seat map changes including setup, testing, and production deployment.
  • Implement IATCI (through check-in) for Etihad and partner operations.
  • Deploy Amadeus system enhancements ensuring full testing and business alignment.
  • Implement messaging and communication updates (teletype, email) for operational efficiency.
  • Test and escalate system defects as needed.
  • Support new airport start-ups with check-in and DCS setup.
  • Maintain and improve process documentation and user guides.
  • Respond to internal and external functional inquiries.
  • Drive continuous improvement in service delivery and satisfaction metrics.
  • Identify and report system issues that could affect operations.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ operational experience in airline and/or ground handling operations.
  • On-the-job DCS training.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage system configurations and deployments.
  • Minimum high school diploma.
  • Subject matter expertise in departure control and/or reservations systems.
  • Working understanding of system integration with airline operational workflows.
