Nutrien is hiring a Solids/Liquids Operator for the on-site Aurora, NC port facility, reporting to the Supervisor, MHC Port. You’ll oversee loading and unloading barges, vessels, rail cars and trucks at the Morehead City site, perform inspections, coordinate repairs, and keep safety and daily goals at the forefront. A high school diploma or GED is required, and you must upload the National Career Readiness Certificate with your resume meeting minimums of 4 in Graphic Literacy, 5 in Applied Mathematics, and 5 in Workplace Documents. What You'll Do:
This position reports directly to the Supervisor, MHC Port.
This position is located in Aurora, North Carolina, U.S.A. and is not available for remote work.
The Solids/Liquids Operator is responsible for the continuous operation of the Nutrien operated port facility located in Morehead City, NC. This is carried out by performing and coordinating loading/unloading activities planned by supervision. An important aspect of the Operator is to maintain the highest level of safety to avert or prevent the possibility of accidents from occurring while performing the tasks related to the port operations. These activities are essential to cost effective operations and require strict attention to detail to meet internal and external customer needs. The Operator requires superior cognitive skills and personal skills to operate the shipping process equipment and to communicate with others during the shift.
What you will do:
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Operating equipment in the loading/unloading of barges, vessels, rail cars, trucks and conducting periodic inspections, maintaining and operating equipment systems in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
- Helping with mechanical and/or electrical repairs and maintenance as needed.
- Being responsible for work outcomes of the assigned area, such as conducting daily inspections, coordinating repairs, product movement and reaching planned daily goals.
- Participating in the Nutrien permitting process by properly completing all necessary permits, such as Lockout/Tagout, Hot Work, Confined Space and Safe Work.

What You'll Bring:
- High school education, or GED equivalent; post-secondary courses or training is preferred.
- The National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) testing is required for all hourly applicants of Nutrien. Applicants must complete this test and meet a minimum of 4 in Graphic Literacy, 5 on Applied Mathematics and 5 on Workplace Documents in order to be considered eligible for employment with Nutrien.

- Ability to wear necessary, company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)--i.e., uniforms, steel-toed boots, safety glasses, emergency breathing apparatus.
- Understand and follow procedures that have an impact on human safety such as the Lock out / Tag out permitting, Confined Space, and scheduled maintenance repairs. Follow Standard Operation Procedures, Safety, and Environmental Procedures, Work Rules, instructions, and daily work activities.
Compensation & Benefits:
Starting rate $27.48 per hour (plus available overtime).
Nutrien offers a skills-based pay compensation program. Hourly rates can progresses based on On-Job-Training, formal learning, and observation of new skills. Hourly rates can progress from starting rate of $27.48 up to $46.16 per hour over a specified time period.
