Job Description

We’re looking for a reliable and motivated Operator & Spotter – Recycling to join our team at the WM North Shore Refuse & Recycling Transfer Station. This is a hands-on role, supporting the smooth and safe operation of our recycling and transfer station site while helping to maximise resource recovery.

What you’ll be doing

  • Preparing daily VCR reporting for the Sort Line facility.
  • Carrying out pre-start checks, basic maintenance, and post-operation cleaning of the Sort Line equipment.
  • Performing sorting duties on the conveyor line during scheduled shifts.
  • Providing backup support to the Sort Line excavator and loader operator.
  • Controlling waste and recyclable placement to maximise recovery.
  • Directing customer traffic and assisting with general enquiries.
  • Maintaining site cleanliness, including grounds, buildings, and landscaping.
  • Undertaking general labouring and litter collection as needed.
  • Supporting administrative tasks and ensuring accurate completion of records.
  • Meeting recycling and diversion targets to reduce landfill waste.

Qualifications

What we’re looking for

  • A current Class 1 driver licence with W, T, R endorsements.
  • Previous experience in waste, recycling, or machinery operation is an advantage.
  • Strong attention to health and safety, with a proactive and practical approach to work.
  • Good communication skills and a customer-service focus.
  • A team player with a positive attitude, willing to get involved in a variety of tasks.
