The positions are full time with 5D (five days) weeks, offering about $94,456 per annum plus incidental allowance, leave loading and superannuation, located at Macquarie Correctional Centre in Wellington NSW. Key duties include supervising and coaching inmates, delivering training programs such as Inmate Traineeships and Work Readiness, and maintaining a safe, compliant workshop environment while supporting case management outcomes. Essential qualifications are a minimum Cert III in any metal fabrication trade and preferably a current Certificate III in Correctional Practice (or willingness to obtain within 12 months), plus a NSW Driver Licence and proven post trade experience, with the ability to work across trades. Paid training is provided to undertake the Certificate III in Correctional Practice. Macquarie Correctional Centre is seeking a motivated and capable Trade Overseer experienced in Engineering to lead engineering workshop operations while developing practical trade skills and work readiness among inmates to support successful reintegration into the community.

 

This is more than a traditional workshop role. You will combine your engineering trade expertise with leadership, coaching and operational delivery in a dynamic environment where your work creates meaningful outcomes every day.

 

Key Accountabilities:

 

  • Supervise, coach and support inmates to develop workplace skills, improve post-release employment opportunities and contribute to reduced re-offending outcomes
  • Demonstrate and promote professional values, including integrity, accountability and ethical conduct aligned with CSI and organisational standards
  • Support business unit operations through the delivery of inmate training programs, including Inmate Traineeships, and contribute to case management outcomes through the Work Readiness Program
  • Manage resources effectively and maintain a safe and compliant work environment in accordance with Work Health and Safety legislation

 

The Successful candidates are provided with paid training to undertake Certificate III in Correctional Practice at an allocated Corrective Services Academy training facility.

  

Qualifications Required:

 

  • Current Certificate III in Correctional Practice or willing to obtain within 12 Months.
  • Relevant trade qualifications: Minimum Cert III in any metal fabrication trade
  • Current NSW Drivers Licence and preparedness to drive a vehicle while performing the role

 

Essential Requirements:

 

  • Proven post trade experience
  • Experience which demonstrates the ability to meet the key accountabilities and focus capabilities as detailed in the role description.
  • Ability and willingness to work across varying trades as required.
