We’re looking for a detail-driven and proactive Payroll Projects Officer to join our Team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced payroll professional who enjoys both hands-on payroll processing and leading payroll-related projects in a complex, high-volume environment.

This role is offered as a 12-month fixed-term contract, providing the opportunity to contribute to key payroll initiatives within a large and dynamic organisation.

Job Description

Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you will:

  • Process fortnightly, monthly and off-cycle payrolls
  • Ensure compliance with Fair Work, NES, Modern Awards and ATO requirements
  • Manage superannuation, PAYG, STP Phase 2, terminations and complex payroll scenarios
  • Support audits, remediation projects and award reviews
  • Partner with People, Finance and operational leaders to resolve payroll queries
  • Contribute to annual remuneration reviews and compliance initiatives

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Payroll roles,
  • Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation including Superannuation, Tax, Long Service Leave, Terminations
  • Demonstrate sound Modern Award interpretation
  • Intermediate to advanced MS Office skills, in particular Excel
  • Experience working in a high-volume payroll environment
  • Experience working with payroll systems (Dayforce preferred, but not essential) and time and attendance systems
  • High level numeracy, analytical skills, and problem-solving mindset
  • Meticulous attention to detail, data integrity focus, and deadline discipline
  • Clear communicator with a service mindset and confidence handling sensitive matters
  • Can work in a team environment but also work independently in absence of the Payroll Manager.

Qualifications, Certificates, and Licences

  • Holds a bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or other related discipline
  • Payroll Professional Certification or membership (e.g. APA or TAPS) preferred but not essential
