Bosch Group in Renningen is seeking a PhD candidate to optimize multi-scale simulation parameters with an agentic AI framework, building a virtual expert for metal components using an integrated simulation chain focused on manufacturing processes and lifetime prediction. You will propose design modifications spanning geometry and material choices, optimize parameters, run complex simulations with large language models, and establish workflows to generate lifetime predictions; analyze results and outline concrete follow-up actions; contribute to evolving our reasoning models with new research findings. Apply with outstanding Master’s and doctoral study eligibility, knowledge of solid-state physics and modeling, proactive ownership and teamwork, fluent English and German, and CV with certificates, onsite Renningen.
At Bosch, we shape the future by inventing high-quality technologies and services that spark enthusiasm and enrich people’s lives. Our promise to our associates is rock-solid: We grow together, we enjoy our work, and we inspire each other. Welcome to Bosch.
The Robert Bosch GmbH is looking forward to your application!
The final μ-structure and properties of a component are strongly dependent on the prior manufacturing process
steps. The high number of parameters leads to a huge experimental parameter space to be investigated for new
product generations, μ-structure states and process chains and those influence on lifetime. As a result, it is timeconsuming to evaluate in product development different variants of materials and processes. Therefore, we strive for a virtual expert for metal components using an integrated multi-scale simulation chain with an agentic AI framework for reasoning tasks having in focus manufacturing processes and lifetime prediction.
