Lightmatter is hiring a Photonics Architect in Toronto for an onsite role to define the micro‑architecture of a photonic based communication fabric and convert product needs into actionable specs. You’ll propose modulators, receivers, multiplexers, lasers and amplifiers, work with photonics and analog teams to estimate performance and power, and write architectural documents guiding design. Candidates should have a PhD in electrical engineering, physics or photonics, deep knowledge of photonic devices and integrated silicon photonics, and experience with FDTD Verilog‑A and VPI Photonics, plus a proven ability to collaborate across disciplines. Compensation CAD 118k to 171k base with equity and benefits; export control compliance is required.
